OUR TURMERIC & CURCUMIN SUPPLEMENT
Our Turmeric & Curcumin is a blend of turmeric root and turmeric extract which provides 95% curcuminoids - the highest concentration available. Some curcumin products use an extract which provides 85% curcuminoids. Curcumin is the constituent of turmeric that contains all the beneficial properties. In food sources of turmeric, curcumin only amounts to 3%.
To further increase curcumin, black pepper extract is included as it is renowned for increasing bioavailability of turmeric. Ginger has also been added to the formula, as part of the turmeric family as it exerts similar and complementary effects.
Try taking turmeric with a meal that contains fat as this may further increase absorption.
WHY IS CURCUMIN IMPORTANT IN TURMERIC?
Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is the spice that gives curry its yellow colour. Curcumin is the active ingredient in turmeric. On its own, turmeric contains a low level of curcumin, around 3%, by weight.
If you want to get the benefits of turmeric, this percentage is far too low. This is why our supplement incorporates turmeric extract and turmeric root, offering a much higher concentrate of curcumin.
THE IMPORTANCE OF BLACK PEPPER
Unfortunately, curcumin is poorly absorbed into the bloodstream. It helps to consume black pepper with it, which contains piperine, a natural substance that enhances the absorption of curcumin by 2,000%. Our health supplement uses the highest quality black pepper extract providing 95% piperine.
